The division moved by train from Camp Atterbury Indiana to Camp Myles Standish in Massachusetts to await overseas deployment.

Here's a great link to an orientation brochure from Camp Myles Standish as an Embarkation camp. This brochure may have come out post VE day, but it can't be too far off from what was experienced there the year before www.files.trailblazersww2.org/Docs/StandishPOE.pdfNote that the average stay here was listed as 24-48 hours, with no passes issued. I don't know if this was generally the case for debarkation, but I do know that those who left on the Wakefield experienced more than the usual delay!

I just discovered a link to a post on Camp Myles Standish 64 years later -- by a father and sons from another division who visited the site in 2008. Only one building from WWII remained. And, there is a plaque close to where the entry once was. If you're looking to locate the entry, this site gives the street intersection. www.trailblazersww2.org/units_276_accounts_jkoller2.htm
