The list includes WWII Soldiers mentioned on the site who in or with the 589th Field Artillery Battalion of the 106th Infantry Division at sometime during their time in the Army.
The 589th Field Artillery Battalion was one of the division's 3 Field Artillery Battalions that fired 105 mm howitzers-- the 589th, 590th and 591st. At the onset of the Bulge the 589th was firing in support of the 422 Infantry Regiment. (The division's fourth Field Artillery Battalion-- the 592nd-- fired 155 mm howitzers in support of the entire division).
RESOURCES
the ROSTER being assembled by Jim West on the Indiana Military site, too. Since many of the division's documents were destroyed when units were captured, the assembly of a partial roster has been a long, painstaking labor.
Note: the roster location has changed. Jim West has turned it over to Wayne Dunn who is maintaining it on the 106th Infantry Division Association site:
