I am trying to obtain my father’s military history, medals, company, and any other relevant information. His name is name is Emmett Edward Crittenden. This is the information that I know. His serial number was 38666300. He was drafted in June, 1944 and reported to Camp Robinson, Arkansas. He left for Europe on October 14th, 1944. He fought in the battle of the bulge and was injured sometime after that encounter. He told me his injuries occurred when a German plane bombed his convoy. He recuperated in an Army Hospital and was paralyzed from waste down. From my research, I have discovered that he left the US on 14 Oct 1944 on the Queen Elizabeth which sailed to Glasgow, Scotland on 27 Oct 1944. This troop ship carried the 423rd infantry regiment and 2nd Battalion of the 424th infantry regiment (106th infantry division) and most of the 87th infantry division. Other information: I also know that he was in the same company as Harley B Bricker. He was KIA. Harley Bricker’s serial number was 38666258.

Hello: You might try the Court House in the County where your Father lived at the time of his discharge. WWII Veterans, all over the nation, were encouraged to have their Discharge recorded (copied) right after the War. The reason being " there would be a record on file in the County Court House, in case the Veteran lost his discharge papers. If your Father did that, you will probably find what your are looking for. I believe the proper office at the County Court House would be "The County Recorders Office". Good Luck, Floyd 2nd Bn. 424th Regiment

I tried a search of the reconstructed roster for the 106th. This is not complete, but helpful at times. This time it was not. I found a Crittenden listed, but the first name did not match, nor did the serial number or history. I tried the friend's name and did not get a hit either.
Hope you're having better luck. Keep us posted.
