I am the grandson of Sgt. Paul E. Mansfield of the 422nd regiment company D.
I was wondering if anyone out there knows him or anything about his regiment or unit.
Thanks!
Paul J. Mansfield

Hi Paul,
The 422nd was located on the Northern part of the Schnee Eifel ridge at the beginning of the Battle of the Bulge. Their sector ran from Rodt (Germany) to Hascheid. Most of the 422nd was forced to surrender near the Andler-Schönberg road after a fierce 4-day battle.
Greetings from Belgium and welcome to this discussion board. Carl

Paul, I checked the 106th Roster ( a labor of many years still in progress, as many records were destroyed when units were captured.) There were several Mansfields listed at this time but none were your grandfather. You might check in with the administrator of the Indiana Military site (who is also the founder of this site) and give him the info that you have. To do this, go to this link: www.IndianaMilitary.org/106ID/SoThinkMenu/106thSTART.htmLook for the word Roster along the side bar & click on it. One of the options that will open says something about adding to or correcting the site. Click on that and follow the instructions to contact the administrator. Connie
