Captain Bob Ervin was B.C. of 590th FA BN Service Battery at the time of the break thru. In the re-shuffle of the remnants in January, he was assigned to the 591st.
My father--Lt. Gerald Pratt-- was with Bob in the Service Battery of the 590th.
I know Bob was from Illinois.

Thought you might be interested in knowing that a link was found. It took a few false starts and a lot of elapsed time. First, I found a VERY old (at time of discharge) address and took a chance sending a letter. That one didn't work. (not surprising but worth a try.) I also tried contact with a University where I thought he might have worked. Nice contact; helpful person; but no results.
A year ago when going through Dad's things I found a more recent (still probably 10 years old) Christmas card with an address on the envelope. I did a web check and that address still belonged to that name. A phone call wasn't helpful. But I sent a letter. It was received by Bob's widow and tucked away. It did not yield results until many months later when it was found by a family member who was also doing an estate cleaning. Bob's step son and I now are on each other's Christmas card list. And, I was able to send him a copy of a very old photo... I am sorry I was too late to connect with Bob, but the family connection will continue. If you cast some bread on the water, sometimes you get more than soggy bread back!
