Lockhart, Richard T. (Dick) PFC, 422 3rd BN Hq (stateside) 423 Anti-tank POW IX B . After finding the EX POW bio listed below, I hit pay dirt with an Illinois history project page that includes much more including some photos and an excellent audio interview: www2.illinois.gov/alplm/library/collections/oralhistory/veteransremember/worldwarii/pages/lockhartrichard.aspxHere's a link to his biography on the EX- POW site: www.axpow.org/lockhartdick.htmOn that site the only unit designation given under 106th is infantryman, but his interview indicates he was in an anti-tank group in the 423rd. In the brief bio on the EX POW site, Lockhart gives a brief account of his travels to POW camp and hints at the horrors and hunger there. The place for MESSAGE TO FUTURE GENERATIONS from Lockhart holds these words: There is an inscription in a World War II cemetery that reads.... " When you go home, tell them of us and say for your tomorrow, we gave our today"
