Yesterday I received the sad news that Mr Elliot Goldstein had passed away on September 10th. Major Goldstein was the original CO of "A" Battery of the 589th FA and was later promoted to Executive officer of the Battalion. During the defense of Parker's Crossroads he became the commander of the defense after Major Parker was wounded and evacuated.
After the war, Mr Goldstein became a prominent lawyer with the firm Powell, Goldstein, Frazer & Murphy. He was 94 years old when he died last Thursday.
