I received his medical records from the National Personnel Research Center. He started out in 4th Company, 1222 SCSU after he reported to the service in May of 1943. Then he moved to the 2nd Army, 505th, M.P., Bn, Company B. After that he was transferred to the 106th in June 1944.
Upon his liberation from Stalag IX-B, he was taken to the 58th Field Hospital (Germany); then to 195th General Hospital (France), followed by 251st General Hospital (France). After that he's shipped over to England to the 347th Station Hospital, followed by the 68th General Hospital in England where he stayed for a month, then shipped back to the Zone of Interior (U.S.A.). The end of May.
He was diagnosed with chronic moderately severe malnutrition and jaundice. It was stated he required more than 60 days hospitalization.
I would love to know more about those hospitals and where they were specifically located!

Thanks Connie-- extremely helpful info and photo. This proves he was not in Camp Lucky Strike after his release from Stalag IX-B.

From the list of hospitals post release that you have and his shipment back to the US directly from his last hospital post it sounds like that was the complete story. I think you are right. No Camp Lucky Strike for him.

A couple of quick notes: 1) link to info on Stalag IX-B (including notes on numerous men from the 106th): 106thdivision.proboards.com/post/5012/thread2) Photos mentioned in the above posts. All were posted using Linked In & had stopped working sometime ago. Recently something else appeared in their place (with a Linked in connection). Each photo here was replaced by a large Ukranian flag with the words "No War." So I removed the links. While the sentiment is positive, it adds nothing to the intended content of this site. Please, If you had a photo posted here you are encouraged to go back to your post and re-add it. Thank you! 3) Also note that there are now two pages to this thread. You are on the 2nd. To return to the first page, look at the numbers at the top left hand corner of this thread and click on "1". Connie
