Could this be the "Ted" Hoagland from the 106th Infantry Division mentioned in the 1945 Mobile Ala Newspaper article as first missing then POW? His parents are named in that article as Mr & Mrs RL Hoagland which would argue that "Ted" was probably R. L. Jr: 106thdivision.proboards.com/post/3657/thread
Confirmation: I just checked enlistment records for Raymond L Hoagland Jr. (serial # matching that found in Roster sources. He was indeed from Mobile Alabama. That about clinches the fact that this is the "Ted" Hoagland mentioned in the Mobile Paper
Note: for tips on checking enlistment records see: 106thdivision.proboards.com/thread/97/step-online-wwii-enlistment-records Be aware that after an enlistment man goes through Officer's Candidate School he is issued a whole new serial number. This doesn't apply here since Mr. Hoagland was a Pfc.
