Hello, I'm Seaforth in normal life i go by the name Stefan, i'm 32 years old from Holland.
I'm a enthousiastic amateur war-researcher and trying to find traces of the war on old battlefields. After i found a messtin, with the name Waity carved in it, in the area of the 106th i came in contact with the 106th association looking for the soldier it belonged to. They were a great help altough i haven't found the soldier yet. I had a little post in the cub of feb. 2013 for it. Still looking and found that he could also well be from the 333rd.
Recently on one of our trips my companion found a dogtag From Francis J Casey 33808484. Last known wereabouts Pennsylvania. Found out he was in A comp 423rd and prisoner in stalag 9b. He survived the war but there the info ends.
We are now contacting Caseys all over Pennsylvania in the hope to find a trace. One man is of particular intrest. A man that goes by the name Francis J Casey in Mckeesport Pa born 1925. It all matches. According to internet results that is. We've been trying to contact him but he doesn't seem to hear me, i can hear him clearly though. Frustrating but not giving up. Trying to find his adress so we could write a letter.
Last but not least i also found a cigarettcase with the name Robe. Found nothing on that one yet. Could also well be German.
Ultimate goal is returning the items if the soldiers or his family want it and gather the story behind the name.
Thank you for allowing me on this forum learned a great deal already.

Been cleaning and conserving the cigarette case.
Turns out the whole backside is schratched with tekst. Very hard to see but from this i'm sure.
ROBE 424 .......(i think behind it it says: regt) Then something like a asn nr but not sure yet. I'll have to try it with a electronic microscope or sorts. They are numbers in any case. I read something like this: ..3453.....

This is an interesting puzzle. It sounds like your "ROBE" may indeed be one of our own -- in the 424th Infantry regiment.
Since I found no Robe in the Roster, the partial list of numbers had me scanning the incomplete but extensive division roster. I looked at any names that contained "Robe" (like a first name Robert or a last name like Robertson. or Roberts, looking for serial numbers that might contain this sequence. No luck at this point. But that doesn't mean that there wasn't a "Robe" within the division.
I think I'll try enlistment records...

------------ LATER:
OK. I know now that "Robe" is indeed real last name that was held by quite a few people with enlistment dates falling in the right time period. There were 18 pages of the name in the army enlistment records page. In a quick scan I didn't see anything with this sequence of numbers within the serial number but it was a quick look. There were a couple that came close (with maybe one digit added within the sequence...

If i search the internet i find some Roberts who's alias is Robe. I found one called Bialek Robert from the 424th with a asn wich contains those numbers. But have to know the whole number first to know for sure. Maybe it isn't a asn after all. Hope to find that out when i have acces to something like a spectrum scanner of how those things are called. You sometimes see those i mean in csi or docu's about hieroglyphics. I'll contact some museums this week asking them if they know where you can let things analyzed that way.

His video's are always of very good quality. youtu.be/0iCEF7QJIfkif someone else likes my posts to be on other forums or websites discussing the 106th you're welcome to post them there. A reference to this board would be nice for Connie is also putting a lot of effort in this board.
