Hello, I'm looking for Francis J Casey. On one of our searches of the battlefield we've found his dogtag and like to get in touch with him or his family. On the net i found a Francis J Casey in Mckeesport with the right age. On the phone i can hear someone but he doesn't seem to hear me. He doesn't say his name only yeah hello. So don't even know if this persons name really is Francis Casey. Or that its a old number belonging to someone else. If someone could come in contact with him it would be very nice. If someone from the association wants to try giving him a call please pm me and i'll forward the number. I can imagine having bad hearing at his age and the call from europe not beiing clear enough. Francis J Casey's asn is 33808484 He was with the 423rd in A company on the Schnee Eifel. Records states he was captured and brought to stalag 9b at Bad Orb. He survived the war. aad.archives.gov/aad/record-detail.jsp?dt=466&mtch=1&cat=all&tf=F&q=Francis+j+casey&bc=&rpp=10&pg=1&rid=51649 His place of enlistment was Indian Gap Pa His last know residence is Philadelphia county Pa. Born in 1925. That would make him 88 or 89 right now. There's a Nara result too of him enlisting in oct 1945 for the hawaiian department as a MP. Maybe someone could hook me up on something there. aad.archives.gov/aad/record-detail.jsp?dt=893&mtch=1&cat=all&tf=F&sc=24994,24995,24996,24998,24997,24993,24981,24983&q=33808484&bc=,fd&rpp=10&pg=1&rid=4263124

Don't know why but the board doesn't seem to take the whole URL in the link.

Hmm... that used to happen occasionally with long links back before Pro Boards upgraded the site. I haven't had it happen recently. But, while annoying, it is not insurmountable. Anyone trying the link will just have to copy the whole thing and paste when he does the search.
Meanwhile, I just e-mailed a possible source of help in McKeesport. If it works out I'll try connecting you directly with this source.

Hello Stefan, Very sorry I only viewed this post today. On 12/16/44 It is confirmed Co A was positioned near Buchet, mainly up the road from Bleialf. A book I have by Michael Tolhurst, he states, Co A was near a cross road at the foot of the Schnee Eifel. There is a bus shelter with a small parking lot, "this area was being held by Co A."
As I look at the Google map of the area, could you describe the area the dog tags were found in reference to the football (soccer) pitch?
Joe
