I didn't see it between the other titles so I'll created a new one. I might overlooked it though.
Did someone read this book?: Up close by John Davis.

Up Close - A Scout’s Story From the Battle of the Bulge to the Siegfried Line By John Davis and Anne Riffenburgh
This a the kind of book that is hard to find and even harder to put down. Davis, in his sometimes brash but always honest style, describes himself as “a tough, arrogant young soldier in the fall of 1944 and the winter, spring and summer of 1945”. The book reads like a cross between a pocketbook in the noir genre and a diary filled with madcap adventures. It’s a boots on the ground tale told from the vantage of a scout in Company C of the 424th.
Davis relates his adventures - and misadventures - in a fast paced style that takes you from the training grounds of Camp Atterbury to the foxholes in Belgium and from there to the final days of the war in Germany. He isn’t a very good soldier in terms of following the rules but he is superb at scouting out trouble and never backs down from a fight.
If you enjoy reading about military strategy and international politics this might not be the book for you. If you enjoy well written and very personal observations of a young man trying to survive everything the German army threw his way then you really should add this book to your reading list.
