Hello all, Here is a very nice photo that I received a scan of from the Daughter of First Sergeant William V Murphy Co B 331st Medical Bn. Most likely taken just prior to going overseas. Would someone be so nice to see that it gets posted on the roster? Thank you in advance. Respectfully, John

OK. I've notified Jim West that the photo is here.
Carl and I also have theoretical access to update the roster. But I'm working out some technical glitches right now.
It's nice having the photo here, too. I've added a link to this thread under Sgt. Murphy's name in the Site Soldier Index.

I have posted his photo. Thanks for sharing. I can add either your name, the daughter's name, or both as the source of the photo, if you want. Just need the names.

Hello Connie and Jim, The information was supplied by his daughter and I would say credit should go to his daughter Gayle Sandel but please confirm with Gayle that she would want her name out there first. Her email address is gsandel46@yahoo.com. Thank you for your time and service in getting out the story of the service and sacrifice to maintaining our freedom and the liberation of others. Best Regards, John Schuler

John,
Thank you so much! This is great information! Sgt. Murphy' story is an interesting one... Just reading the little that is able to fit in a couple of newspaper articles and a telegram gives a feel for what his wife must have gone through, too...

The tale of Mr. Murphy's endurance and bravery to escape the Stalags is a fine example of what the Golden Lions were capable of. And the ability to get his story recorded and posted in just a week shows how well this message board is managed and organized. Here's a salute to Johns3 and Connie and Jim West for all their efforts.
