Kennedy, Mervin Rodney "Jack," 106th Reconnaissance POW
Jim West of the Indiana Military Site (and founder of this discussion group) just sent the obituary for Melvin R. Kennedy which noted he was in the 106th Infantry Division in the Battle of the Bulge and that he became a POW.
Melvin Kennedy passed away May 27, 2015 in Birdsboro, PA at age 95

OBITUARY:
Mervin Rodney "Jack" Kennedy, 95, of Birdsboro, PA passed away May 27, 2015, in his residence. He was born in Birdsboro, PA to the late Hunter Kennedy and the late Lulu (Biven) Kennedy. He was married to Mary E. (Johnson) Kennedy, at home. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Birdsboro, PA.
He was employed as a Telephone Lineman for Conestoga Telephone for 32 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of South Birdsboro Archery, Rod & Gun Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII, where he served with the 106th Division at the Battle of the Bulge. He was also a POW. Mervin and Mary celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary on April 12, 2015.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are: 1 son, Rodney L., husband of Romona Y. (Maupin) Kennedy, Kulptown, PA; 3 grandchildren: Christopher, Scott and Joshua; 4 great-grandchildren: Jacob, Jevan, Logan and Wyatt. He was predeceased by a grandson, Brian H. Kennedy.
Funeral Services will be held on Sat., May 30, 2015, at 2:00 p.m. in the Dengler Funeral Home, Inc., 144 N. Spruce St., Birdsboro, PA. A viewing will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Interment in Birdsboro Cemetery, Birdsboro, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, 114 Bird St., Birdsboro, PA 19508.
