Jacelon, Charles Frederick, Sgt 589 A POW Gerolstein, Limburg; captured @ Parker's Crossroads This member of the 106th passed away in October 2014 at age 96 www.legacy.com/obituaries/app/obituary.aspx?pid=173268374His obituary notes " After high school, Charlie worked for the Guardian Life Insurance Company and served in the National Guard. Once activated, Charlie served first in the Pacific and later in Europe.""On Dec. 23, 1943, he was captured by the Germans at the Battle of the Bulge, and became a Prisoner of War. He was liberated by the Allied Forces in March 1944 and spent 18 months in a Veteran's administration hospital recovering from the deprivations of his POW experience. Following WWII, Charlie returned home to his wife and children. He re-enlisted in the Army, and eventually received an honorable discharge following 20 years of active duty.
