Seems I am batting zero with replies or support for our fellow veterans.
I will attempt to locate support for those warriors that fought particularly during the Battle of the Bulge, many taken prisoner.
I located copies of several combat veterans’ separation papers assigned to the 106th. They list their MOS, and awarded the CIB among other medals.
One was a photographer, and the second was a truck driver, light. They were awarded the CIB according to War Department Circular 408, dated 17 October 1944.
Today the Army Board for Correction of Military Records is denying the CIB to veterans assigned to the same organization during the same battle. The Army is using guidelines pertaining to military personnel that served after WWII.
By my research the requirement for the Infantryman’s MOS was not effective until 1961. It was not retroactive, and did not pertain to WWII era.
How does one correct their misinterpretation? Yes, members of Congress are involved.

This is a very worthy initiative Robert. These men deserve the decorations and awards that they are entitled to. It seems pointless that the Army are using guidelines that were not applicable at the time these men were in the service. I would very strongly support the aid and the initiative that you have taken to help these brave men to get the awards they are entitled to

I have found the original directive. It's difficult to copy because both sides of of the thin onionskin paper are typed on. In September of 1945, Colonel Descheneux-from a Denver hospital..issued Combat Infantrymen and Combat Medical Badges be issued retroatively to 12-16-44 for the men who served in the Ardennes. My dad was in the 422nd.
