My Grandfather (Sterling W Grieve, Svc Co/424th/106th) is listed as a "Truck Driver Light 345" and earned a "Motor Vehicle Drivers Badge." These two pics show him with a truck or trucks of some kind. My questions are: What kind of truck(s) is/are pictured? What would they have been used for? What sort of work would my paps have done as a driver of the truck(s)? ..... Is "Truck" even the correct word? Please educate me! Grateful to anyone and everyone! Cayte

I'm far from being an expert, but my best guess is an early Studebaker 6x6. built before WW2. Used for carrying anything that needed to be carried. I updated some the info in your grandfather's record in the 106th Roster. at tinyurl.com/106th-Roster Let me know if you can add more. Jim West

That second pic appears to have been taken some time after the first. I believe that second pic is the "typical" deuce & a half that was in much more widespread use later in the war, not sure who produced them. If you look at the cab area it appears to be much more "squared over" and quite taller compared to the first pic which Jim has said is probably a Studebaker 6x6.
