My grandfather Vincent Delagrange (photo attached) was a member of the 423rd, unsure of what company. He was from Akron, Ohio.
He was not a POW, but had a story that he told one of his grandchildren about how he and another soldier hid together in a hole when the Germans cut off the 422nd and 423rd and forced the surrender. I assume after that he then joined up with the 424th. If anyone has any recollections of Vincent Delagrange or has knowledge of who he spent those few days hiding with, I would be grateful.
Thank you to the soldiers for all you did!

Thanks for bringing your grandfather's story to this discussion board! According to the Roster that Jim West has spent years compiling on the Indiana Military Site, your grandfather was in the Service Company (SVC) of the 423rd Infantry Regiment. www.indianamilitary.org/106ID/Rosters/RosterZOHO.htmLooks like an interesting story... hope more can be found.
