Does anybody know how I could contact Sgt Chuck Henderson? I believe he may have known my grandfather, Joseph Sorce, who seem to follow a similar path. I have an existing post on Joe Sorce. Note from Connie Sept. 4, 2022: link to thread on Joseph Sorce: 106thdivision.proboards.com/post/3090/thread

I'll let Jim West know of this post. Since he originally posted that letter on the Indiana Military Site perhaps he has contact info on Chuck Henderson... of course at this stage of the game we are racing with time.
Of course if he does have any info it is best to send that to you in this board's personal messaging option, rather than post it for all to see. But he could note here that he has something for you and then send a personal message...

Unfortunately that was back in 2011. I've gone thru several computers and each time things get lost. I do not have any information on him, other than the info you supplied in 2013. That is available on the 106thRoster.
Very sorry, Jim West

Thanks for looking, Jim.
I've sent a message to the keeper of the membership lists for the 106th Infantry Division Association to see if there is any contact info for Chuck Henderson there. Keeping fingers crossed...
Whether he is still living (and contactable) or not, it is good that he at least left some records on the Indiana Military Site that may be helpful...
Still, it's good that you are looking while there is still a small window of chance that contact could be possible...

I just heard back from the keeper of the membership list at the 106th Infantry Division Association. There are no Hendersons listed. So that is another avenue of search you can check off. I've tried some google searches... No success thus far...
The Roster, which is a continuing compilation by Jim West shows: Henderson, Charley S. "Chuck" Sgt 15339911 423/L, 422/F In POW hospitals while captured. Liberated 4/2/1945 CIB, POW letter 12/7/1979, 1979-7/8/9, 1980-1/2/3, 1981-9/10/11/12, 27, Discussion Board 7/13/2010, JW
The 1979 7/8/9 indicate a Cub issue as a source as does the 1981-9/10/11/12

OK. I found some promising information you might want to check out. I'll contact you via personal messaging on this board.

Dad (Paul Eanes, 590th sv unit) mentioned that he spent time at a hospital in Oxford England after being liberated by the Russians from his last POW camp. I also have a listing (orders perhaps (?) with others names listed) sending him to Florida for some RNR (and i have pics of him and mom in florida). I don't have the listing scanned so if anyone wants just give a shout and i'll dig them out. I don't remember other names of dad's group/590th on the list also btw.

I was under the impression that they sent them to the hospital closest to home once they returned to the states. Dad was checked out in England and then sent to Valley Forge,PA before finally getting home to Reading for some leave.
