Mason's wife posted a brief message on a UK POW memory site. She notes that her husband was briefly in IV B. He was soon transferred to a work camp near Bautzen. For her note and contact info go to: www.wartimememories.co.uk/pow/stalag4b.html#MasonNote on this site reads. " My husband James O. Mason, 106th Infantry, 423 Regiment G Coy, was briefly in Stalag IVB. Arriving late December 1944 and shortly after being transferred to a work camp near Bautzen with and about 40 others. (only 28 were alive when they were liberated). The factory made cardboard." There are posts at this site from others with relatives in IV B from many nations. There is also info about the POW Camp.

I see on the map that Bautzen is about 38 mi. NE of Dresden.
Anyone have further information on this group of 40 men sent here to work in cardboard factory or if there were others from the 423rd among them?
