To anyone who may be interested.
Sixty six years ago tomorrow (04/09/1946) this WWII veteran was discharged from the service. The Army gave him a new uniform, with medals and ribbons. The Army also gave him $300 in cash to buy a new set of civilian clothes.
He put his new uniform in a clothes bag, hung it in a closet until 11 November 2001 (Veterans Day). For the 1st time in years a parade honoring all veterans was going to be held that day. That old veteran wondered if the uniform would still fit him. It did. To town he went to march in the parade.
The good Lord willing, the devil don’t care and the Creeks (Indians) don’t rise he will be taking part in the next Veterans Day parade.
Floyd, 424th Regiment
