In Jim West's "German POW" section there is a narrative by Rishel White. He stated that he was in "the Reconnaissance unit of the 106th." The Roster on Jim's site says his unit was "recon." I looked him up in the POW records on the NARA and it states that his unit was "267th" and it was "Reconnaissance Mechanized." This is the first time that I read about the 267th. Does anyone know where the unit was situated on 12/16?

This post is also repeated in the Units in the Division section of Unit Specific discussions: 106thdivision.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=unit&thread=544&page=1#1915The 267th Mechanized Reconnaissance unit is not one I recognize in the division. Nor did I spot it in my initial scan of the list of units in the division or the link mentioned on the above site. This does not mean it did not exist, but it does mean I'm no help. I'm hoping someone else can help. Was this number a clerical error on the National Research institute's POW listings or an omission from other lists that needs tracking down? Right now the unit question is a mystery.

Carl answered the question. On the NARA POW list where it usually states the regiment, it had 106 for the unit. The 267 must be the designation for Recon. Mech.
