www.dtic.mil/cgi-bin/GetTRDoc?Location=U2&doc=GetTRDoc.pdf&AD=ADA156948While googling for info on the Bulge and what-not I came across this report done at the Combat Studies Institute. The title is "The Battle of St. Vith, Defense and Withdrawal by Encircled Forces. German 5th & 6th Panzer Armies versus U.S. 7th Armored Divi- sion and Attachments. 17-23 December, 1944". The report is dated 1984. Other info is as follows "A battlebook prepared by students of the U.S. Army command and'General Staff College under the supervision of Combet Studies Institute as part of the Battle Analysis program". I have not read it all but it seems to be a very easy read and a very good discription of the battle. Understanable to even a novice like me. I hope you all find it interesting P.S. I also found this... THE OPERATIONS OF THE 423D INFANTRY (106TH INFANTRY DIVISION) IN THE VICINITY OF SCHONBERG DURING THE BATTLE OF THE ARDENNES, 16-19 DECEMBER 1944 www.7tharmddiv.org/docrep/IS-423-Jones.doc

Thanks for the links, Daryl.
My computer was slow and my patience short this AM so I haven't yet opened the first document. I'll try later in the day. The second, a PDF downloaded rapidly and looks interesting.
It helps to have many eyes out there.
I'll link to your post from several other places.
Thanks again!

Daryl, Saw you were on the site last night and went back to review this post... It has been a while since I read this. Shortly after you posted I made my way through that second link, a paper by Alan Jones Jr. on the actions of the 423rd. I am so grateful you posted this. It led me on a bit of a search for more because some of the maps were missing from the posted document. It turns out that the paper was published in the Cub at one time, and I ended up making copies from that. Recently while web surfing I came up with a link that has a complete copy (with clickable maps) of that Cub reprint of the Jones document. It turns out it is on a 62nd Volksgrenedier site. I added the link to our resource list. It is currently 2nd on a list of links here, under 62vgd site: 106thdivision.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=links&thread=596&page=1When you get to this site you will find 106th on the side bar. Click there and again on the sidebar on 423rd & you'll see the document! Connie
