Welcome to the site! If you haven't yet discovered the roster that Jim West (founder of this discussion board) has been compiling for years on the Indiana Military Site, I have one piece of good news for you. This roster is not a copy of some official list. No official roster of the 106th Infantry Division from the 1940's exists. Jim has gleaned the names from every reliable source he can lay hands on-- often 1 name at a time. His list is amazing but does have gaps. The good news is that your Uncle's name is there. If you go to the roster and do a search for "Fish," you'll find his name with all the info you supplied here plus his serial number and the fact that he received the Combat Infantry Badge: www.indianamilitary.org/106ID/Rosters/RosterZOHO.htmI haven't yet checked further into the source. I believe it was an is 1999 issue of the Division Association's Cub Magazine. Many of the Cub Magazines are also posted on the Indiana Military site I haven't checked out this one yet. Connie

Thanks. Always glad when relatives are looking. I tried putting the CUBs on-line with Picasa, and it just isn't very good. So when time permits, probably this Winter, I will be putting them all back on the site. AmVets tells me to never worry about space.

Are you certain about Company M? Infantry Companys were: A,B,C,D 1st Bn.; E,F,G,H, 2nd Bn.; I,J,K,L, 3rd Bn. M Company? Floyd, 424th

The info I've found all says M company...have even gotten names of other guys from M! I've been in touch with John Kline from 106th Infantry Division Association, and he confirmed it as M. Now I'm confused!

I'm embarrassed! There was no "J" Company. Therefore M Company is correct.

I don't know where my head was while making that blunder but it wasn't on my shoulders.

We all have our moments! Thank you for looking out, anyway, Floyd!
I have a fair amount of info as to the movements of the regiment, if anyone is interested.

Is any of that information easily postable or are there links we could add to the Unit Specific Discussions?

Maybe under Unit Specific Discussions/ 424th? 106thdivision.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=unit&action=display&thread=532-------------------------------------------------------- Also, reading through this post I realized that somehow your initial intro/ question slipped off the board. First time that's happened... Would you be willing to re-post an approximation of your initial post on this thread? Sorry this disappeared. Connie

Another Member of 424 M Company
My grandfather was a member of Co. M as we'll myself and my brother are trying to find out as much as possible. He wrote a detailed story about his capture by the Germans

Re: Another Member 424 M
First of all, welcome to the board!
I'm assuming it was 424 M ( not 422 or 423 M).
If you'd like to post your search on its own thread under your grandfather's name, let me know. I can move your posts for you, if you want.
The story of his capture sounds like a family treasure. (If you're interested in posting that on Jim West's Military site, let me know and I can help you connect (and I can place a link to that post on the discussion board).
Hope we can help in your search... Keep us posted and ask questions.
Thanks!
Connie
