In one of my dad's letters home from England, he mentions a liaison pilot for the unit (snoring.) I'm wondering if anyone has the name for the liaison pilot(s?) in the unit.

Lt Jack Grey and Lt Lang were pilots for the L-4 that flew missions for the 590th FA. I know Lt Earl Scott and Lt Graham Cassibry flew for the 589th and Lt Pete Lauman and Lt Neese flew for the 592nd. S/Sgt Nielson and Lt Elliot were the pilots for the 591st.
Cassibry of the 589th was a special case as he was busted out of flying school after he crashed a plane with no-one in it. Scott and Cassibry were at the DIVARTY airfield near St Vith when the order came to evacuate. Cassibry was not a qualified pilot but nevertheless he took one of the L-4's up and flew it to Bastogne. He was awarded the Air Medal for it.
Hope this helps ;-)

I thought I'd move my request to the success list. I was looking for names and Carl provided them. Of course that doesn't mean the book is closed. I'd gladly take more information or personal contact.
