Unfortunately at this point you may have more information than is readily elsewhere. I checked the Indiana Military Site roster (painstakingly reconstructed but not yet complete) and did not find this name there. I also checked a Combat Medical Award list without success.
Do you have your documentation from service records, personal accounts, letters...?
I will check in with the man who keeps the list of the current members of the 106th association. My link to the 331st was a member of C company...

I will add him to the 106th Roster. Perhaps somehow that will help discover his past. West

Time to bring awareness ot this request to the surface again... I have some additional information on this one. The access that Jim West had to copies of General Orders in the National Archives yielded a page with PFC Delbert Scraggs name on it. This is General Orders #42 from 1945: www.indianamilitary.org/106ID/Rosters/REFERENCES/1945-042-424-SVCPlaque-SS-BS-PH/242.htmIf you scroll down to the 3rd page on this link you will find his name under "Award of the Purple heart/ Oak Leaf Cluster)" His was awarded for an injury sustained on 8 February 1945. His service number is given as 35 778 141. It was noted that he "entered action from West Virginia." (I'm accustomed to seeing "entered service from..." This is a new phrase for me...) Note was also made that 333rd B was then medical detachment to the 424th Infantry Regiment.
