Hello All:
This is the 72nd anniversary year of the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor on the Hawaiian Islands.
The event is unforgettable in the minds of American Citizens, who were alive then and are still living today. Most of us recall numerous details about that day --- what the weather was like - - where we were --- what we were doing --- the news reports as they came over the radio. Indeed, it was an alarming day.
That evening, a Sunday, Mr. & Mrs. America had their ears tuned to Radios all over this Nation. As reports came in from the source of action, the news was not good. The United States wasn’t prepared for War.
The Japanese Army could have landed on the beaches of California and met no opposition from our Army. In the early stages of the war, German and Japanese submarines were sinking Allied ships faster than they could be built. America was very vulnerable to the whims of our enemies. Truly, those were very dark days for our Country. However, one thing was positive for us, the American Citizen; we were a united nation. Everyone, from School Children to Sr. Citizens rolled up their sleeves and labored, for one purpose; winning the War. That took blood, sweat, toil and tears. With the confident attitude of the men and women in our armed forces, the United States of America won the inevitable victory and the lights came on again, all over the world.
