Hello everyone. This photo is posted elsewhere on this site under Milton Lewis but it was assumed that this was probably a random group of soldiers on tour, along with my Grandfather, in France in summer of 1945. But I have been able to confirm from other photos I have found that there are at least several other members or the 106th in this photo. Anyone recognize anyone here? If you send me your email I can send you a larger version. Regards Don imageshack.us/a/img845/2079/7852.jpg

Hello Don
No Army organization, I’m positive, would permit a group of Soldiers, as large as this one to go on pass, or furlough at the same time. Usually, three to five men at the most from the same Army Unit would appear in a group picture like this one. Also, they would be dressed alike. Notice on the far right side of this photo there are three men (standing) with Ike Jackets & neckties on. The other men on either side of them are dressed differently. Also, Soldiers from the same outfit would usually stand together.
If this photograph was in done color, the caps on most of the men would reveal what branch of the Army they were from, A blue stripe on the top of the cap would mean infantry, red would be artillery, etc.
I hope the critique of this group picture will useful to you.
Floyd

Thank you Floyd. The gentlemen on the far right without his cover on is my grandfather. The gentlemen squatting in front of him and to the left is in another photo with my Grandfather from training camp. And there is at least one other standing next to him whose face i have seen before. What you said makes sense. I am sure there are only a few 106 soldiers but it was worth a try if they could be recognised.

Hello Don:
I'd like to see a larger photo. Maybe that would reveal more information. My e mail addresses ragsdale@galesburg.net.
