The Bulge Bugle, official mailing of the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge carried, on page 11 of their August 2000 issue, a one-page summary of the action in the ETO at the time of the Bulge that is with his official documents at Carlyle, PA. Bradley's picture and a statement are also on the cover page of this document: www.veteransofthebattleofthebulge.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/2000-Aug.pdfA quick quote from Bradley: T he German attack was launched by four armies of 36 divisions, seven of 24 in attack which were armored. Of course our front was overrun, but our front line divisions fought stubborn delaying actions and slowed up the advance One ofthe most important ofthese actions was at St. Vith. Here, the 7th US Armored Division and a regiment o f the 106th Infantry Division held up the 6th SS Panzer Army for three days. On the north flank, Hodges’ First Army held the shoulder near Malmedy and Stavelot and refused to give a yard.
The document is in pdf form. (note: other pages of this newsletter contain some statements from members of the 106th)
