John Brooks 424 H

I would appreciate any information on my dad John Brooks or the 424th Company H. He was a Staff Sargent with 81 mm gun crews. Thanks,

I wish you luck in the search for more information on your father & hope that this discussion board will prove another useful tool in that quest.

I did check the roster that is the ongoing work of Jim West, founder of this message board and keeper of the Indiana Military Site. Are you familiar with the roster? www.indianamilitary.org/106ID/Rosters/RosterZOHO.htm Just click on search and type in a last name.

There are a number of Brooks & two John Brooks. John B. Brooks fits the description of your dad== rank, unit, etc. Jim lists your Dad's serial number which could prove useful if you did not have that (although with all the info you've provided, I suspect you do.

He lists his sources as the October issues of the Cub in both 1973 and 1993, I believe. I went to the Indiana Military Site: www.IndianaMilitary.org/106ID/SoThinkMenu/106thSTART.htm for the link to old cubs along the sidebar and scrolled down through the 1973 issue, hoping I was looking for a whole article and not just a name imbedded somewhere in pages of text. I had no immediate luck and haven't yet checked out the other issue. You might want to verify the Cub dates in the Roster before you check.
