When a Soldier went home on furlough in WWII it was a good sign that
(1) He had just completed basic training, ca 18 weeks or longer.
(2 ) Recently completed a special school (something that required more than basic training, such as Officers Canidiate School)
(3) There was serious illness or, a death in his or her family.
(4) He or she was slated for overseas shipment in the near future.
Those are clues to consider when trying to untangle the movements of a service man’s activities in WWII.
